(3 Nov 2013) Nairobi residents who had gathered for an outdoor concert on Saturday got a rare opportunity to see a solar eclipse.
Some used filtered sunglasses to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon.
Rebecca Narracott, a British woman living in Nairobi, said she had seen an eclipse once before, in the UK, but this one was more spectacular.
"It was actually amazing, and past my expectations, because the last eclipse I saw, you probably saw it for about 15 seconds, whereas this one went on for about four minutes? Five minutes?" she said.
This solar eclipse is a rare "hybrid" of annular and total eclipses - meaning that the extent to which the moon will block out the sun will be different depending on your geographical location.
Sunday's eclipse is sweeping east across the globe. It was first visible in the southern United States and then travelled across the Atlantic Ocean and Africa.
Partial views were possible in eastern Northern America and southern Europe.
